I can’t comment on if they fit the casting or anything but I’m generally curious to see what they bring to the film and how they do."
I’m really disappointed that people are judging this casting when they haven’t even gone into rehearsals yet? When the only thing that we know is casting and no one on this board even works on the movie, so how can anyone know how these ladies will do in the roles? Be positive. Have some faith. Give them a goddamn chance. Also, let it go about Dove Cameron. It’s not like there aren’t productions all over the world, and what if she went to one of those? The West End, tour, Broadway…also did she even want the role or was it just fan dream casting? Just saying. Give them a chance."
People can say and feel whatever they want. They don't have to be positive. They don't need to have faith or give them a "goddamn chance". People can do whatever they want and all opinions are valid. Stop trying to control people on the internet for the billionth time. And demanding people "stop acting so superior" is literally you doing the same thing.
I would LOVE to see Julie Andrews as Morrible. She can speak sing her lines and her voice performance in Aquaman was pretty menacing so we know she could deliver Morrible's "Wicked Witch" monologue.
As far as casting goes I am on board with Erivo, she will do the role justice. I've not heard Ariana sing as an operatic soprano but the range is there. I dunno is she can act or not but her impressions are pretty good.
With the right campaign this will be the next Star is Born and get the nominations.

Well, he would be wonderful. But I think he'll be doing a play on the West End during filming. Unless the movie is being shot in the UK."
It’s already been reported the movie is shooting in the UK."
Not to mention that the play Taron Egerton is gonna be doing with Jonathan Bailey, Cock, will be running from March 5th-June 4th. Wicked doesn't begin shooting until June.

IMDB has had Rick Carter (who's won 2 Oscars for Avatar and Lincoln) listed as production designer and Ann Roth listed as costume designer since Stephen Daldry was set to direct. Not sure if either of them are still with it.

OK, that's insane logic. You think Elphaba stayed back 16 years to wait for Nessa? I hope they just cast Fiyero, Nessa, Boq, and all the background actors to match these two. Just go back to Grease rather than Dear Evan Hansen it.
I agree with the person who described Cynthia's voice as being a bit too light compared to the nasal belt of most Elphabas but I'm hoping for the best. At least they can both hit all the notes even if the interpretation of the songs will probably be different from what we're used to.
Bettyboy52 said:"If Morrible goes to Streep I’ll be so irritated. Give someone else a shot. Audra would be great, Allison Janney, Bette Midler, Tracey Ullman, Jennifer Saunders, or Imelda Staunton would all be wonderful options too. Watch them give it to Kidman."
Why is this so accurate? I'm hoping that whatever the casting for Fiyero, Morrible, the Wizard, etc. it at least sticks to some out of the box thinking and not just another assemblage of actors that feels like The Prom. It's not like Emma Thompson, Bernadette Peters, and other suggested actors are unknown but... you know.

Now HERE is casting I can get behind. Unexpected yet...expected at the same time?? I adore him, and after Rocketman, I've been saying he absolutely has the chops for a musical, film or stage.
Moving on...I'm glad I'm not the only one not behind these two. While I believe Ari would give her all to respect the musical art form as those are her roots, I still don't think it'll go well...Similar to Carrie in SoM. And Cynthia...I just cannot see her in this. She's almost TOO serious for this role. And frankly, her behavior I continue to hear about makes me concerned for the on set atmosphere.
Anyways....that said, I feel like I"m such an idiot for not foreseeing this when Ari picked Kristen to be her Voice mentor...and I just watched her interview with Fallon and OMGGGG y'all, the amount of clues she was dropping about this throughout is actually hilarious, regardless of how one feels about her casting!

Then letting people have an opinion also applies to me. So don’t tell me what to say or try to control what I post :)
Rege Jean Page would be perfect and Fiyero doesn’t need a strong singer in the role.
