Whatever the heck that was, most people probably won’t make the connection to BMC."
What was the Be More Chill thing? You mean the bathroom song? That had a connection?

Any fans of the show have an opinion on that performance and if it sold tickets?"
I doubt that performance sold many tickets at all. Probably the most underwhelming performance of the night is going to be from the show that wins Best Musical.
Wouldn't have been the number I'd have chosen, either.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I still think Why We Build the Wall or Way Down Hadestown would’ve worked better. Also, something feels horribly wrong about Patrick Page and Amber Gray being the only cast members to not utter a single word during that performance.

I love Hadestown but I thought that was the wrong number to do. "Way Down Hadestown" would have been the bigger show-stopper."
Its the show stopper moment in the show but if you haven’t seen the show, it won’t make sense. Thinking of it that way helps understand why they picked that one. Or possibly they highlighted Reeve Carney since he didn’t get any Tony nominations when the other 4 did.
Hadestown should have done either the opening number or Way Down. I’m not sure that performance is going to move the needle much for them. Though it may not matter considering all the awards they’ve won.
I enjoyed the BMC spoof because that’s the type of thing James does best. But I’d still like to see it performed by George Salazar.
let's remember reeve carney wasn't even nominated. Amber Grey, Patrick Page, and Eva should've been more featured for the performance, what a shame. I really hope they get best musical either way.
