Thanks Danielle for your quick response. That is what I thought but I wasn't 100% sure.

It is in this production.

Also wondering how they handle some of the design elements. It's such a massive production.

Yay! We're going on Wednesday, May 30, so it sounds like we'll get Beth (barring illness or anything else unforeseen).

You’re welcome."
I made the switch. From Row S of the Mezz to Row AA of the Orchestra. Pretty big leap, but very excited to witness this production and performances up close.

I'm seeing Part 2 tonight (Wed) after a thrilling Part 1 last Friday, 2/23. Does anyone know is tonight the first preview of Part 2? Or, if not, has anyone seen Part 2 and have any thoughts about what you saw?
I was mesmerized by Part 1! Having seen the original production in 1993, memories of that production came to my mind as I watched this revival, but the show felt fresh and newly-minted...glorious performances across the board...I was not surprised at Nathan Lane nailing the funny lines of Cohn, but seeing him go so dark and deep later in Part 1 was a revelation...Andrew Garfield was beyond brilliant...his Prior Walter broke my heart! I could go on - each performance was staggeringly good...and the play itself has stood the test of time, working not only as a reflection back on those terrifying first days of the AIDS epidemic, and the world's response, but still speaks to the current world a prophetic message that the world MUST move forward if there is any hope.
To say I'm primed for my 4 and 1/2 hours of Part 2 tonight would be an understatement... :)

for anyone at Perestroika tonight, do they give new playbills? should i bring back mine from the other day?

Act 3 had not begun by 10:30pm tonight, fyi.

couple of wuestions:
1. when I saw the original(s), I thought part 1 was 'better theatre' than part 2. can anyone comment on that about this production. i'm coming to NYC but wont have time for both halves, and need to pick one.
2. for those who saw the original cast and have seen this production -- can you compare and contrast the major performances?
thanks

They gave another Playbill but it's the same Playbill as Part 1.
Marianne spoke at the top of the show, welcoming all of us, saying that this was the first performance of Part 2... all the way through, and bear with them if they have to stop the show or anything.
Luckily, they didn't have to stop it. There were some moments when they had issues getting pieces off the stage before the next cue/scene.
Got out around 11:35-ish.

I really loved the use of the staging in Part 2.

Wow, wow, wow. Just incredible. This production is truly something rare. It's masterful on every level. And I truly think it's the best ensemble performance from a cast I've ever seen on stage. Every actor is giving an exceptional performance.

Has anyone sat in Orchestra L 19 and 21 for Part 1 or Part 2? Curious about the view!

My lottery seats were almost the exact opposite of yours (H22). There were a handful of moments where stage left was slightly obscured but they didn't spend too much time in the very corners of the stage so I maybe missed a handful of minutes of someones' face. You will probably have a similar situation but with stage right. I usually check A View From My Seat but it seems like there aren't too many entries for this theater.

what time did the show let out last night?

11:25pm.
The intermissions weren't particularly long (15 mins for the first and 20 for the second) and it basically started on time tonight (unlike for Part 1) and there really weren't more than a couple minutes to tighten up in set transitions, so I don't see any way it will get to the stated 4 hour run time. 4 hours plus intermission, sure.

Got out at 11:10 tonight. What a remarkable night at the theater- at one point in the second intermission, I had the sensation of being at a communal sleepover. I'm pretty sure I even witnessed a blossoming romance take place over the two nights. I knew very little about this play (except that it was iconic) and wow I am truly blown away. Andrew Garfield completely won me over by the end
