for the "value" those are very nice seats, as I was in row P. a few parts, more so in the beginning, youll want to lean forward...other than that, sit back..youll have an excellent view.
I am 55 years old and my SRO days have been over for a while. I am grateful that I am at a point in my life where what I spend reasonably on a ticket is not much of a concern. But I do understand the plight of those that seek a better value so they can enjoy more theater. I would advice that there are options other than settling for SRO or partial view seats. First; everyone should plan a little in advance if they can and figure out this dynamic pricing trend. Our own CT2NYC has been a great source of information and advice. He should have his own column here. Second.. try if you can not to support greed. Plan ahead and NEVER buy premium. It only exists because people are willing to do it. Third.. treat your addiction. If you are seeing a show three times or more and always going for a bargain... then you probably cheated yourself of seeing it at least once from a great seat. I have sat everywhere.. and there is NOTHING like seeing something from 4th row center. All is just my opinion.
Oh, for chrissake - NO ONE IS PANICKING. No one. People like to be prepared, and at bway prices (ALL BWAY prices) they have a right to know. But when we first got tix in Boston, there was easily 60% of the stage we could not see - at all times. That isn't "partial view"; it's NO view. In fact, this time, we chose not to risk the obstruction from the side orchestra - because of the awful experience we had in Boston.
Yes, I agree with the poster that says very little happens on the passerelle, which seems to be what gets cut off from view of most of the mezz.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

AMEN. I see fewer things now but splurge for great seats. You just have to know how to do it so you are not robbing a bank,

Maybe YOU'RE not panicking, but, when the previews thread is overrun with posters concerned about seating, it sure looks to me like some people are. I myself have panicked about seat views, so, to say that "NO ONE IS PANICKING" is most likely inaccurate. When spending hard-earned money on a show, people have every right to be a little obsessive.

I paid for premium seats for a group to see Hello, Dolly! and that was soexpensiveI said never again would I pay such outrageous prices! Then Network came along... and I splurged for onstage seats during previews and I said, really, this time I mean it, never again! Now Moulin Rouge is here... and here we go.... in the Diamond Circle.
I've hadto face the fact I am willing to pay more forgood seatsfor a show I really want to see. For me, that means less shows. I still haven't seen Hamilton, and Hadestown isn't on my list, both shows I would really like to see.
A double-edged sword and a sacrifice."
i know what you mean At 55, I now want to be close to the action if I can be. However, on my upcoming September 27 -October 4 trip (for which my gal pal is joining me for the first three shows), we’re sitting in the mezzanine for Hadestown, TKAM, and Moulin Rouge because center orchestra was a lot, LOT more and we thought we would have better views from the mezzanine at each show compared to comparatively priced side orchestra or rear orchestra seats
i sometimes have to remind myself that once I’m in my seat and the show begins, I generally have a great time regardless of my seat location.
On the other hand, I’ve spent a small fortune to see Madonna twice on that same trip (including once from the front row), but that’s because of my 4-decade relationship to her and her music (including seeing her 6 times previously) and an occasional lack of impulse control. However, I’d never, ever shame someone for buying a nosebleed seat to see her.
Now, really...I’ll shut up...back to reports on the actual show!

That's a good seat. For the first preview, I got MEZZC Row S Seat 103 (the very last row in the mezzanine center section) for $99. I was 7 rows behind where you'll be and I was able to see everything. I had to lean forward a little to see the front of the passerelle, but you should be fine in your seats. Actually, I think any seat in the mezzanine center section will be OK.

Don't even START me on her..."
I have done the same for Madonna, Bette, Barbra, and next week Hugh. All money well spent.

Bette is the reason why I would never do it again. The most I've paid for anything was Hello Dolly and I hated every second of it. Not to say it was bad, 'I' just didn't enjoy it.
Madonna I have seen enough times (including once for free and once for 20 quid), I don't need to go again at 20 times the price.
Barbra I have no interest in at all.
I wouldn't cross the road to watch Trump supporting Jackman.

To each his own. I would spend good money on all of those for a up close seat. Different strokes for different folks.
Thanks to everyone who helped with the standing room question! I think whoever wrote the articles might've just been using it as a way to say it was completely sold out. To those of you who have made this a place to judge other people about where they decide to sit/stand, some of us don't care as long as we get to see the show. We don't all have the luxury of paying that much for a ticket. My family and I are actually saving our money to get the more expensive tickets, but having seen the show, I would gladly pay a major discount to see it multiple times even if I have to stand. I generally have to stand in the same spot at work for about eight house or so, so this is nothing. I think overall, I feel lucky to even get the chance to see a show like this. Some people don't even get the chance to see a Broadway show.

The Hugh Jackman / Trump thing is old and stupid. You can find many pictures of many celebrities with the Trumps throughout the years. His friendship with Ivanka is old and seems non political. But if you want to further discuss.. why not start another thread instead of thread jacking this one?

I know its early in previews but is there a song list in the playbill? Did they ever have one post opening in Boston? I remember during previews then they didn't, which makes sense but I am curious.

I remember that in Boston as well. I'm curious if the chemistry between Olivo and Tveit are better now? When I saw the production in Boston, it seemed like Olivo and the Duke had better chemistry.
Not at all surprised by the comments on the production. They didn't seem to get much negative feedback from that run that they kept most of it intact. It's too bad too because the show could be really spectacular and not just because of the sets and lighting. I had really hoped that they replaced the leads and did new arrangements of the songs instead of the karaoke feeling i got when they played. I'll probably play the lottery to see it in NYC since I live across the street but I wouldn't pay full price to see it again. I noticed yesterday that they were still building some stuff on the street so they are still adding things or reinforcing existing set pieces. It is really hard to build on a show after that first 20 minutes of overload.

"Michael Riedel...The Perez Hilton of the New York Theatre scene" - Craig Hepworth, What's On Stage
I saw the last preview and while I thought the set was jaw dropping I was not impressed with the music. It seemed like too much was crammed in for shock value but after a while it got boring. Tam Mutu’s Duke was unexpected. He’s no Ramin Karimloo but he did okay and tried to be sexy. That’s the problem. The Duke is supposed to be a joke not a straight up rival for Satine’s affection. Miscast I think.
