That is a wild reaction to someone who has ever only been in ensemble roles...

Crazy how they can swoop in and get rid of random posts, but can't get rid of the spam thread shilling online casinos with links that are very likely covered in viruses just sitting in the OT board.
What is slightly odd about this ensemble is that in London, Lloyd cast kids mostly JUST out of acting school to emphasize the youth mania of Hollywood. Most of these gypsies have extensive Broadway resumes so obviously not in the London ensemble age group... Maybe it's an Equity thing...

I suppose it depends on your expectations in terms of advances. For comparison, I put up seating charts for the matinee of Sunset Blvd I'm going to in October next to the current largest gross per week, The Lion King, and Sunset has a greater percentage of seats sold. It just doesn't seem that people purchase tickets this far in advance any longer unless they are visiting or planning a trip or something.

Additionally, Seatgeek doesn't allow to upgrade a seat for more expensive one, it appears. I have requested an exchange for a better seat at a higher price, but after back and forth with the customer service, was denied. Telecharge and ATG has no issue upgrading seats.

So post pandemic, without the ease and convenience of being able to cancel them if plans change, people are hesitant to buy in advance. I know that may frustrate producers on Broadway, but that's just what the public seems comfortable with at this time. Also, they are more picky because folks have a little less money right now. I'm sure sales will pick up next month?
I did upgrade once and it was a ridiculous process. The person I spoke with took the info and said someone should get back to me within 48 hours. Long after 48 hours, I decided I would live with the seats I had. Naturally, I received a call the next day, saying the request had been approved. It was the same person I spoke with; she explained that it took longer to get back to me because she was sick for a few days!!!!
Ironically, after all that mess, the show — NYNY — closed before I got to see it, but my escapade doesn’t end there. They only gave me a refund for the original purchase amount, $300 or so short. That began the process again. I called, explained what happened, and was told I would need to wait for them to research it and make a decision. About a week later, I saw the additional amount refunded to my credit card.
I have NEVER experienced anything remotely like that from Telecharge and Ticketmaster.
This whole scenario reeks of the latest 'Cabaret' revival transfer -- acclaimed in London, wins all the awards, and bombs on Broadway. I don't know if this will bomb necessarily, but I feel like there is a lot of baggage coming with this controversial production of an already controversial show. These articles do Nicole no favors. She will be losing the Tony to Audra, basically.

I'm sorry, how is Cabaret bombing? It may have gotten mixed to negative reviews here in NY, but it is consistently one of the top-grossing shows on Broadway and smart stunt-casting should keep it alive for many, many years.
I think it you saw this show you would also feel that Nicole is very Alice Ripley in next to normal vibes playing herself, which is why it works so well along with all this strange publicity. I think it’s practically impossible that her performance won’t turn this into a hit. I look forward to being proven wrong if I’m wrong and will happily concede I was wrong. But I just have a feeling. Audra’s performance in Gypsy doesn’t really have anything to do with this except competing for the Tony. This production will also appeal to a mass younger audience.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Cabaret vs Merrily we Roll Along. Sunset Blvd vs Next to Normal. Could easily see N2N coming here and being favored over sunset. but I’m also interested in how the non profits are doing big musical revivals this year. Plus GYPSY. And let’s not forget Katie Brayben for best leading actress

How is Sunset Blvd a controversial show?"
Because it's horrendously written."
