Really CarlosAlberto? You're using a thread about anti-bullying to bully another person having nothing whatsoever to do with the person in question? Interesting choice...
There was a similar expose being written at NYT, but was scrapped for obvious reasons.

What kind of article is this? Doesn’t even say his name, god damn.

“In the year since the theater industry shut down, there has been reckoning after reckoning, and true to form, the theater industry — the Broadway industry, particularly — has done what it does best, the bare minimum.”
So true.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "

Being an a-hole isn’t a reason to cancel someone. As previously said - if you don’t like it - don’t work with him!"
Are you kidding?! This dude is a bully who physically assaulted multiple people over multiple, causing some to go to hospital, and yet this doesn’t deserve cancellation?! No worries though, let’s just try and cancel Laura Osnes instead for the heinous crime of being religious!! Lol, the hypocrisy is real #makeitmakesense

Oh for fvcks sake RELAX! It was a joke. How was typing "Patti Who?" bullying anyone?
It's a little haunting really how Rudin has turned out to be to the theatre industry as Weinstein was to the movie industry.
Everyone KNOWS what he is doing. But also everyone KNOWS that he's "the guy" you gotta get an in with if you wanna win the awards and have the success. Hell, Weinstein bled over into the theatre industry with that towards his end. So even through everyone knows instead of saying anything and making him hold himself accountable for his actions.... they smile through, turn a blind eye, and thank him as they accept their award they got all thanks to him, his backing, and his money. Bite the rich hand that feeds and you will be blacklisted before the last words leave your mouth.
The story is picking up some traction but the question is will people outside theatre circles even CARE? Unlike with Weinstein, you won't have big famous names that the average Joe recognizes coming out of the shadows to join the chorus of denouncement. The average Joe is gonna look at this and go "Some musical guy? What do I care? FOOTBALL!"
I agree with the sentiment that it’s up to other powerful behind-the-scenes players (producers, investors, theatre owners, etc) and/or stars with the fame and clout of a Jackman or Midler to come out against him and refuse to do business with him. Most of the people actually working in the theatre can’t do anything about him or they would have by now. And unfortunately, the people with the power to really stop him are likely just as morally reprehensible as Rudin or worse.
Indeed I wonder if one of the comments is referring to Donna Murphy in Hello, Dolly! Is there another Scott Rudin show that had an alternate? If true, annoying to hear that even Donna Murphy was treated like dirt.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
A friend of mine was in a Broadway show produced by Scott Rudin and said he was a nightmare. She had the starring role as a fill in for the main lead as she didn’t want to do the show 6 nights a week (she wasn’t understudy - she actually was in the play 1-2 nights every week during the entire run). Anyway, he basically told her she was no good, couldn’t live up to the main role (meanwhile, this friend has a few Tony awards) and couldn’t understand why he ever hired her. She cried for weeks during rehearsals because he tore her apart. She needed the gig to pay the bills so she had no choice but to stay. If that wasn’t the case, she would have left in a heart beat because he was a terrible bully. I’ve heard stories about him for years and yet no one seems to have ever made it public - I wonder why not - another powerful white man in the entertainment industry who gets away with horrible behavior.
Fun fact: I grew up in the same town as Scott Rudin - went to high school with his brother. Scott didn’t come from much so he was a town “success” until all these stories came out.

I am racking my brain, and cannot think of any Rudin production that had an alternate scheduled to perform 1-2 shows a week except Hello, Dolly!... (let alone a Tony Award Winner)

And multiple-Tony awards to boot. I think it must be Donna Murphy. Urgh, sorry Donna!
Another powerful voice who could speak out on this is Stephen Sondheim. According to Arthur Laurents, Stephen and Scott Rudin apparently have had a bitter feud since the days of Wise Guys (though it appears they might have made up recently as there is an article describing Scott Rudin working on Sondheim's new show from a few years ago). Stephen Sondheim even asked Arthur Laurents to stop speaking to Scott Rudin - Arthur refused (isn't it fitting that Arthur Laurents, who also has a terrible backstage reputation, would be chummy with Scott Rudin). Sondheim does not need Scott Rudin - please, help put an end to the misery that Scott Rudin appears to be creating within this community!

It seems obvious that the comment is about DM but that does not make it true and correct. There are at least two elements of the story that are pretty clearly false.
The 6 shows a week (should be 7), 1-2 regular performances (only 1) and ‘few’ Tony Awards? (should be 2?). If this yes but these are details that I wouldn’t necessarily expect someone to be 100% on if they are not actually a theatre fan. Still, recognise it is just an anonymous comment that could be made up (or could also be true). It’s hard to ignore a pattern of apparent poor conduct though.

I haven’t seen anything yet. Anyone else... Has Rudin released a statement denying all accusations yet? Has Hugh and Sutton released any sort of statement?
