OMG Jinx. I came here to say exactly this same thing. I'm less convinced that Parade can't survive post-Platt...I think there are enough big theatre-type names (Uranowitz, Skyler Astin, Gideon Glick, Jeremy Jordan) who could keep it open for at least a little while with a limited engagement or two -- or who could comfortably lead a national tour.
I think there could have been a little bit of vote-splitting between Into the Woods & Sweeney but I think it was really Parade's to lose for the reasons chrishuyen said. If ITW had just opened, I think it would have been closer between Parade & ITW. I don't think Sweeney had much of a chance.
Also I'm going to predict a few insane sky is falling posts tomorrow when the grosses come out about bad numbers for some shows when a) the air quality issue may have dampened day-of ticket sales Weds-Fri last week and b) Many shows cancelled their Sunday matinees with some rescheduling to less desirable times. Let's just remind every now that NEXT week's grosses will be much more telling.
Skylar has expressed Leo Frank as a dream role - and I’d love to see him perform it - but (pending resolution of the WGA strike) he’s committed to filming “So Help Me Todd.” And it’s rumored that Jordan is tied to another incoming show after his summer stint in LSOH. Wondering if they could get Darren Criss for a short stint?

I think they could go the Into the Woods route and get some big name theater people who would likely only commit to like a few weeks/months. But I’d imagine they’re close to recouping since it’s been doing pretty well so byte might just consider that a win.
So, I guess the article I posted earlier did not take into account the streaming numbers. According to this article, viewership was up this year. The awards also broke a record on PLUTO.

There's not really such a thing as a "big name theatre person," and certainly not any that would be appropriate or available for this show. The key to replacement would be someone who means more than Platt and/or brings in a different type of audience than him. And those supporting roles aren't great for stars.
INTO THE WOODS is an infinitely more accessible & well-known show. After Bareilles left, that show survived on the title, not the people who were in it –– and it was very lucky to do the business it did, helped by opening at a time when there were limited big shows & revivals on Broadway.
Could PARADE tour? I don't know; the original had a 4-month tour with Andrea Burns and David Pittu. Maybe a London run (ATG is the lead producer) if Platt & Diamond would hop the pond?
New York, New York is probably done by Labor Day. Possibly Sucked, too, but Alex's win could help the show. Some Like It Hot has a high weekly nut, but they might be able to stick it out through Christmas/New Year's. A Tony win Best Musical almost always sees a ticket sales boost. Hopefully Kimberly Akimbo lasts longer than A Strange Loop does. & Juliet is the surprise hit of the season, but how long will it last? A Beautiful Noise continues to impress at the box office and should be safe until the end of the year.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Company did win last year. Musical revival, director, supporting actress, supporting actor and one other that I cannot remember, but it was a design award. Closed shortly after, so I assume that early sales indicated that the To ys did t make a big difference at the box office. Of course, it is possible that contracts were expiring and the producers decided to close on a huge high.

I think it was both for Company. They didn't see a HUGE turnaround after the Tonys and Patti's contract was up and they couldn't get a good replacement. The rumors were that they wanted Baranski, but she was way too expensive for the show.
As much as I love the Uranowitz idea, I want to know what Matt Doyle is doing next? I could see him easily going into Sweeney for Fisher or replacing Platt.

Matt is too old to replace Fisher (the Judge is supposed the creepy pedo, Anthony is supposed to be the opposite) and, setting aside all the discourse on this site about whether or not Jews should be playing Jews, this production has been intentional to cast Jews as Leo and Lucille and the production and actors have both played that up heavily. You can't have Ben going on NPR and talking about meaningful it is to perform the Sh'ma every night and Micaela adding the she stands offstage and clutches her Magen David necklace and then be like "actually we've found a random Goy to do this next." Whether you agree with "Jews should play Jews" in principle or not, backtracking now would not be a good look for this show and I don't think it's something that they'll do.
& Juliet is already a hit so they're fine. I would imagine Sweeney is trying to find a suitable replacement unless they recoup then they'll close when Josh leaves. All the casual viewers I know who watched last night want to see KA, Shucked and SLIH now so let's hope everyone who performed gets a box office bump!
IF Sweeney tries to recast after January 14 –– which isn't a guarantee –– they'd be better off trying for a Lovett than a Sweeney, since so few men who are bona fide famous (to non-theatre people) would be right for the part. But trying to recast Annaleigh may provide the same obstacles as trying to recast Ben Platt or Hugh Jackman.
But it may also be that they can recoup by then and quit while they're ahead, and make some money on the road.

Darren Criss was just at a 2 week reading for Rachel Chavkin’s pre Broadway Gatsby. Assuming he stays with the role, he’ll have Gatsby at American Rep in Boston during May - July 2024. Even with that, he’d still have enough time to do a short run with Parade after Platt leaves.
I believe he was being interviewed by Richard Ridge last summer during his LSOH stint, when he was asked if he had any dream roles. Without hesitation, he replied “Parade.” I agree - he would seem to be a great fit.

Looking at the numbers, I don't expect any closing announcements this week -- with the possible exception of Life of Pi, which is surely losing money with a cast of 24 and is on sale through Sept 3. The other big strugglers already have closing dates on July 2 (Fat Ham, Sidney Brustein). Kimberly, SLIH, NYNY, and Shucked are safe for now until we see how the grosses balance out post-Tonys. Camelot probably survives to Sept 3, if not one final extension through end of year.
If anyone were to announce, tonight would be the earliest it would happen so they could inform the cast in a company meeting 45 mins before the show.
Has Life of Pi just not been advertising well? It really seems like they could've made it into an "event" type show, with the spectacle and everything, that would work well with tourists, but I haven't really been hearing it talked about that much.
