Hey gvendo--are you from RI? I grew up there and totally have awesome JCS memories of Ted Neely and Carl Anderson at PPAC. You mentioned Providence and I totally got a flashback.
The nicest bway person I have met was Anthony Rapp at his book signing at Barnes and Noble in NYC. Just a warm, sweet person.

Beth Leavel was so gracious and we were having a nice talk until a guy cut me off to talk about how he saw her in a show when he went to her high school.
Also, Haviland Stilwell was incredibly nice after the Les Mis revival. When she heard we came from towns with the same name she was so psyched until she realized they were in separate states. Still, she was incredibly friendly as were Alex Gemingamni and Celia Keenan Bolger.
I met Faith Prince last week at "A Catered Affair" so genuine and sweet -- she was really really lovely, as was Kerry Butler at "Xanadu"
@ jazzicat: Yes indeed I am, currently centered there, though after college is over I plan to be in NY more often. I love RI, though, so it's a toss-up.
Ted and Carl have both been great, but unfortunately due to my young age I was never able to see them both at the same time. I saw Carl on tour in 2003 (after Sebastian Bach left the show, while other veteran Barry Dennen played Herod), and Ted twice in 2007. Both gave excellent performances.

I have been extremly lucky, I don't have a bad stage door expierence. The nicest would have to be (in no order):
Adam Pascal
Anthony Rapp
Tamyra Gray (I have heard different things about her but she was awesone when I saw her. We had a conversation about handbags)
Harley Jay
Will Chase
The cst of Xanadu (really, could they be any nicer?) They all were so nice.
Jeremy Kushiner (even though he was in Boston during AIDA)
Brian Stoke Mitchel
I think that's all (at least for now!)

Heather Parcells is incredibly sweet and always a joy to talk to.
Javier Munoz
Mandy Gonzalez
Leigh Ann Larkin
Lisa Brescia
Charlotte D'Amboise
Christine Estabrook was so kind to me at the stage door for Spring Awakening. I told her how I was so glad she was back with the show and how I was a huge fan of her work (I know, original, huh?) and we took a photo together. When it didn't come out right (stupid people I place my photo-trust in!!) she even let me take a few more til it worked.
But by far the nicest actress I have ever met is Kelly Sullivan. I know she's somewhat new to Young Frankenstein, but still I was so amazed by her. I told her that and she signed my playbill, took a photo with me, and even asked my name and gave me a hug. She was just so gracious. I don't know if anyone watches Kathy Griffin, but she did a special (Strong Black Woman) where she did a bit on Celine Dion when she used to have her Vegas show on how every single time Celine would start the show by walking out on stage and just being so SHOCKED that people are in the audience. Like, what? You? All? Here? For me? But with Sullivan, it was completely real. She just seemed so happy to be there, both on stage and even at the stage door.

Rebecca Pitcher, hands down.
Jerry Orbach. Hands down the politest - even when he was being Lenny-Briscoe-Jerry-Orbach. The guy was a mench.

John Cullum was so nice and Raul Esparza went out of his way to have a real conversation.
Yeah, I changed my mind.
The [title of show] cast, but especially Hunter and Susan.
I know it says actors, but I just need to say that Alex Lacamoire is an absolute sweetheart.

I agree with the [Title of Show] cast. They are all so sweet.
Jeff was a little rushed, but Hunter and Heidi were so nice and really caring. But Susan, was just hilarious. They're all so down to earth and really personable.
Tim Howar is amazingly nice. Daphne Rubin Vega is also very sweet. Some other ones are Robin De Jesus, Lin Manuel, Karen Olivo, Nikki Snelson, Haven Burton, JENNA RUSSLE and DANIEL EVANS! And Christian Hoff!
Definately Chris Fizgerald. I've met him a few times and he is soooo sweet. He is really appreciative of his fans. Roger Bart is also really nice. The first time I met him was in Seattle before a performance of Young Frankenstein and he talked to us for a while and was really nice. Some others are:
Nathan Lane
Andrea Martin
Sutton Foster
Shuler Hensley
Jim Borstelmann
Fred Applegate

I've honestly never had a BAD stagedoor experience. No one's ever been RUDE to me. But some have been a little bit more cold-seeming than others. And the ones I listed are the ones who were RIDIC sweet and nice

When I saw Phantom Las Vegas I met Anthony Crivello and we had a conversation on how his wife worked with my director in Kentucky. When I flew home I saw my director at the airport and it was the coolest thing. But before the show started, there was a couple that sat next to my dad and I and I started talking to them and they were Kristen Hertzenburg's (Christine) parents. I told them I was a big fan of Anthony's and they went backstage after the show and told him, so they took me back there to meet him. Amazing experience. Will never forget it.

He is SO nice. We have the same last name, so after the show we started talking and find that we actually ARE distantly related. He invited my family to dinner with his wife and talked for a good two and a half houurs. Incredible. His number is in my phone. :)) lol
Other than that, Jonathan Groff and Douglas Sills were some of the nicest PEOPLE ever. I met Douglas Sills after Pimpernel when I was very young, and completely shaped my whole "wanting to be an actor thing" haha.
