Hoping to catch her in the show tomorrow... But I see she was out of both shows today. Does anyone know if she made an announcement? How I can find out for sure? She had said she does all shows unless shes ill, so I do hope shes all right!!
She has been having vocal issues, I believe. When I saw her at the beginning of July, a lot of her notes were lowered and she sounded very, very tired. If you have her understudy, I’m sure you’ll be in great hands. It would be more upsetting if Amber or Patrick or Andre we’re out.

Oh, I understand that. I have no problem with understudies... just a fan of Eva is all. Yes, I’ve heard that, too unfortunately. I believe she had nodes at one point following Tonys. Hoping for the best, but I’m sure it’ll be fine. Bought tix forever ago so there was no way of knowing!! Thanks tho! If anyone else has other praise for her understudy or news of Eva, feel free to post.

I know Khaila (one of her understudies) did the Broadway in the Boros & Broadway on the Boardwalk performances, so there's probably some non-bootleg footage of her.

Has Patrick been out yet? Hades is mostly spoke-sung, but having just a regular baritone (as opposed to a true bass) do it as the understudy must be a very different experience.

Yes, I know at least one person who saw the show with T. Oliver Reid as Hades. I don’t think Patrick has been out much, though.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
I’ve seen the show twice with Patrick (off and on broadway) and once with T. Oliver Reid.
When Patrick is out, everything is mostly sung an octave higher. T. Oliver Reid played it more sly, cool, slick oily salesman whereas Patrick is just this booming, creepy presence that draws you in but also scares you. Both interpretations work within the story, but you definitely miss the basso profundo he has when he’s out.

Since I'm assuming today's matinee starts at 3:00, then checking it at 11:00 is not indicative at all. The house board pretty much gets reset at the end of each day, with the exception usually only being if it's a planned absence, such as a vacation, that the SM team knows with 100% certainty will be ongoing. It's unlikely that anyone from the SM team would be there at update the board for today at 11:00 for a 3:00 curtain, especially since by this point they wouldn't need to do an emergency rehearsal for the understudy.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
It took 3 tries, not buying tickets in advance but Stubhub 30 minutes before, but I got to see the original cast. I know that’s not practical for everyone. Perhaps avoid matinees and double show days?

Was she in? I've seen it twice (May 4 matinee and August 23 fri night) and she was out both times.

Yes she was in!! Very grateful, as she had missed both shows the day before. The entire OBC was there, save for one Fate. Incredible afternoon!!

I hope she just takes a full week off and is on full vocal rest. Perhaps that will help and not just taking a day or two off so often. I hope she feels better soon.
I wonder if they’d think about giving the role an official alternate schedule. It’s such a demanding role. I feel so bad for Eva.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.
