Glad to see this is getting good reviews, and I'm once again very close to buying a ticket to a show that earlier the same day I had little interest in seeing.
I'm weary though - I was let down so much by Shucked
I always appreciate first preview reviews but more and more as of late they’re coming from people who love everything. Which is GREAT! I love theatre too and the enthusiasm is exciting. But I’ve come to learn to hold out for a couple previews to pass for a reliable critique sans the euphoria of being one of the first to see something new. Gone are the days of Whizzer :/

To be fair, the last question mark of a Broadway show that got such enthusiasm from early preview reception was probably Some Like it Hot which ended up living up to it, in critical terms.
And some people don’t really post about things we don’t enjoy and prefer to focus on things we do.
As for the runtime, last night ran around 3 hours with starting a little late and a longer intermission. Act one alone was 90 mins and act two a little over an hour.
My only real big complaint is the drunk Kermit the Frog impression. Sorry, meant Colton Ryan… whoops!"
He was brilliant and nailed the part. Colton and Anna are gorgeous together and have wonderful chemistry. These roles are their star turns, trust. The lighting was just beautiful, absolutely no sound issues for me (center mezz front row). And the tap number? One of the MOST EXTRAORDINARY THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN ON A BROADWAY Stage!

Very well said Catalano. I trust your views and perspective and appreciate them. I will be purchasing a ticket.
I do agree the book is the weak link out of it all but like I said - I'm interested to see how they trim it up and make it tighter. I am generally someone who is hard to displease when I go to the theater. I always take away something so I'm probably not the person's review you should take to heart. I loved Beanie in Funny Girl when I saw it in the first preview. So.

Beyond the four from the film, how many previously heard Kander and Ebb songs are included (I've heard that "I'm One of the Smart Ones," preserved on the album "Liza Minnelli at the Winter Garden," is in the show)?
Are there song credits in the Playbill that list exactly who wrote each song? (Kander and Ebb, or Kander and Miranda, or just Kander, etc.)"
Would love to hear more about the songlist too. And, out of curiosity, is there an Overture?
For those interested in the Orchestration, PlaybillVault has it listed as 19 + conductor!

He means exactly what he said. Fawning love letters here, no one fawning there. Pretty simple.

I don't love everything. I wish I liked more of what I see on Broadway, but I don't. I did like this show, however. That's why I gave my positive commentary. LOL. You all are exhausting.
From what I am reading here, I am definitely adding this to my list for May! April is gonna be a fun-filled month for me as well!
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

Yah, differing opinions so yeah, pretty simple. Oh and don’t assume pronouns. TSM.
