the only reason this show will close in January is if they can't continue to find a name for Mary. The sales for Jinkx appear strong already and now we wait to see who's the next replacement.

Also, they are looking to start star/stunt casting for Abe in the near future, so that will be interesting casting to keep an eye on.
A little while ago I had the random/stupid idea of Oh Mary! With Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman.

If Sutton is Abe and Hugh is Mary, maybe.
I would personally love to see Hugh’s “no more gay” scene. And Sutton might actually be inspired casting. I’m not opposed tbqh.

We've all done this before, but I have a free hour and let my brain wander.
People I think could play Mary
Women of SNL: Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, Kristen Wiig, Aidy Bryant
Issa Rae, Linda Cardellini, Melissa McCarthy, Martha Plimpton, Stephanie Hsu, D'Arcy Carden, Annie Murphy
Amy Seders, obvs
Matteo Lane, Joel Kim Booster, Bowen Yang, Dan Levy
Of course, few of these are realistic...but that's what dreams are for.
And in writing this list, D'Arcy Carden as Mary is the only thing I want left in the world

Deliver to Cole by midnight tonight:
Amy Sedaris is still my #1. I like Bowen Yang as well.
Tituss' attendance woes continue. He was out last night and is out of both shows today.
Oh, Stephanie Hsu could be great in this. I just don't think she's a big enough name for the marquee.

I'm still going to the mat for Bridget Everett and Jeff Hiller coming in as Mary and Abe.
I'm also surprised that no one has mentioned John Early, especially given his connection to Cole.

Eek, please no.
My dream Marys are Parker Posey, Jennifer Coolidge, and Patti LuPone.

Well you think Tituss was joking about this past weekend?

Gurl, I landed in the ER.
I don't know that I did in fact, but I feel like I saw Tituss standing outside a food truck in front of Knockdown Center at 5am.
I'm sorry that Tituss is out so soon after starting the run, but Attendance woes is a stretch. He missed ONE performance of his previous run (and when I saw him the night before he went out, he was clearly not in 100% shape), and has missed a whopping two days thusfar in his second. As far as I know he was back in the show tonight. Brody Grant he is not.

If they lean into the fact that she is ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE Stephanie Hsu, that might build some buzz. People love an Oscar nominee/winner on the boards these days.
Re: Tituss’ attendance - While I can see people getting finnicky when the performer misses shows during a very limited run, people also have lives and immune systems that don’t always work around your show plans. I was also there during Tituss’ first run and I was actually quite vexed about how laconic and half-hearted his performance was, only to realize in hindsight that he was at the start of an illness that caused a callout later that week. When I went back last Saturday, he was firing on all cylinders and I can safely conclude that giving him a second chance was absolutely worth the money.
Also, it was Pride weekend. Don’t tell me none of the gays on here have ever (or wished they could) call out after a full weekend of rainbow bacchanals…

Sure, go back and see him again—assuming he hasn’t called out again, of course! The gaslighting over Pride weekend is wild—since when did “hungover and homosexual” become a medically excused absence?

Apparently Groff is straight because he hasn't missed a single performance.

Is Hannah on? She always posts when she goes on. Unless they called Jackie Sanders in.
Just saw on Insta that Hannah is indeed on for Mary at both performances today. I'm sure it's been said earlier in the thread, but having finally seen Hannah this past Wednesday eve, their performance is *FANTASTIC*. I hope Tituss gets better and is back soon, but if you have tix for today, you're in great hands w/Hannah and the whole rest of the ensemble, all of whom were equally on fire earlier this week!
