How is the attendance for Six? I'm thinking about splurging on a ticket and I want to see the full original cast...any idea if a refund if offered if an alternate goes on? I'm sure the alternates are fantastically talented, of course, and the question is not to disrespect them, just curious about attendance.
HBBrock said: "Does anyone know where the lottery seats have been for the first few Broadway previews?"
The lottery seats are still the complete front row (20 seats) in the orchestra every performance. I don't know if there are additional seats as well but always those.
I can't speak to attendance, but I am sure that NONE of their name appear above the title, therefore, no refunds would likely be available.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I do know most shows have a liberal refund policy during the pandemic, but I’m not sure if they will refund right before the performance when you might see that somebody you wanted to see isn’t in the show.

Agreed! SIX is a production that heavily relies on its alternates, and the diehard fans often go out of their way to see them perform (especially if they are performing a role that isn't their first cover track). In the non-US productions they even get their own unique costumes. Those costumes were nixed here due to AEA rules.
I definitely understand the sentiment of wanting to see principals in roles - especially when you are spending a lot of money to see a show. But if the Broadway run ends up looking like the West End in terms of cast attendance, then you might see at least 1 alternate per performance more often than you'd see the entire principal cast.

There are 4 alternates for the 6 roles so a cast of 10 not 12. That said, there was about 10 days straight and 15? shows without any alternates at all and then one was on all weekend.

I saw Keirsten as Seymour last night. She has PIPES! Like, a real Jennifer Hudson quality to her voice. I don’t have Abby to compare her to. I honestly thought Adrianna and Brittany walked off with the whole damn show.
As for the show overall, it’s very twee and quaint. I had fun, but got kind of irritated by the repetitive banter. I was hoping there was a bit more room for some ad-libbing. I also thought Samantha Pauly was very off last night - she missed notes and was a bit flat and off the music. I don’t know if it was a character choice but it definitely did not come up to snuff against the others.

K. Howard is supposed to slowly break down throughout the song and start to lose energy before the big final chorus. Not sure about the being flat part, she usually sounds great.

Interesting. I do remember the song coming in for that kind of landing but it was an oddly shaky and disconnected descent into it.

I thought equity rules require a production to hire someone full time if the lead is out indefinitely. They did so at Wicked, when the Elphaba gained a substantial injury. But back to Abby, as someone who has grown up with ear tubes and several ear problems, I certainly hope she recovers quickly. She seems to have had a slew of I injuries with this show, I recall she strained her foot during one of the pre-Broadway runs.

If I remember correctly, Caroline Bowman was out for longer than a month in Wicked. It’s possible Abby’s injury isn’t anticipated to have a long recovery (hopefully). There was a time where Abby, Brittany, and Sam all had injuries during the show’s pre-Broadway run. There’s a Megasix out there of the cast performing sitting on stools.
I saw the show again on Tuesday night and Mallory was on for Seymour and Keirsten was on for Parr and just to reaffirm how incredibly talented the alternates are these ladies absolutely slayed. This was my 3rd time seeing the show (once at ART and I went to final preview back in October) and I just love it so much.
I ended up getting a partial view seat (Row B | Seat 18 in the orchestra) for $30 which was extremely partial view in the sense that anything that happened upstage I couldn't see, but having seen the show before it wasn't terrible. I couldn't imagine paying full price for that kind of seat, but for someone who has seen the show before and just wanted to see the show again it was worth it.
I totally get loving the original Queens because they are everything, but the alternates are just as fabulous and bring their own energy to the show. Mallory's Seymour was wonderful and Keirsten's voice is just beyond and made I Don't Need Your Love even more of a moment (as if that was possible).
The last time I saw the show, Sam had been not feeling well (she addressed this on Instagram after the fact) so it was wonderful to see her in her glory and she did not disappoint. I adore Adrianna, Britt, and Andrea and they once again brought the fire, energy, and vocals.

I saw the show yesterday and I think we had the entire original cast (there was nothing specified in the theater). We won the lottery and had seats in a box on the side - so clear view on the queens (we couldn't see the drummer).
After seeing the show, I don't really understand the buzz around it: I didn't really like it. I think the concept is good, but everything is cheap: the stage, the costumes, the music arrangements... I wasn't excepting this for a Broadway show - even if I knew it was different.
And what about the ticket prices?! $499 for an orchestra seat for... this?

I had the exact same reaction as you! I really didn't care for it. I found the evening to be cheap, tacky, and gimmicky.

Same here. I've seen it twice, once when it was still possible to buy a rear mezz ticket for $49 and another time through the lottery. I don't get the prices and the obsession with who plays what queen. Six has a great and catchy score but you don't get anything extra or special by seeing the show live. It feels like one of the less famous Las Vegas shows to me, a dinner and a show kinda package :) If this musical gets a Tony, it would be an abomination.
If I do end up seeing this one in the future, do any of you recommend bringing earplugs? I typically do so for pop concerts; they are much louder than the average Broadway show. I was walking by the Brooks a few days ago after I picked up my Diana tickets; a performance had just started and I could hear the show as clear as day from right outside the theatre.

If you're in the habit of wearing them already, I'd recommend them. It's very loud, as is the audience. I have tinnitus, which fluctuates between moderate and severe, and I needed to keep mine in for the entire show.
I consider myself pretty sensitive to sound levels, and I actually disagree with the above poster. I didn't find it any louder - certainly not to any severe difference - than other broadway shows. Nor did I find the audience distractingly loud. That being said, you can't do yourself any harm bringing them with you - just in case.
Yes, 500 for any bway show is obnoxious - but just like any other production, premium seats are here to stay. If someone is will to pay the price, they'll sell it to them. Ahhhh, capitalism.
Is it the best musical out there? Nope. It is to many, entertaining as hell - I saw it 2x in Boston, once on Bway and had a great time - I doubt I'll "need" to see it again.. Sometimes, that's just what one needs/wants. (Not trying to change opinions - that's the beauty of art!)

Saw the show last night, blind to it except for the hype, and I really enjoyed it! Nicole Kyoung-Mi Lambert was on for Catherine of Aragon, always gotta shout out a great alternate, especially when the rest of the cast is so phenomenal.
I'll be honest, at times in the beginning it felt like it was Altar Boyz when it came to the structure and the book scenes, and occasionally I wondered how that show would fare if it came to Broadway. And if they could dare charge those absurd $499 prices...
I'll admit I find the opening number to be the weakest number, but once they go into the solo numbers, I was impressed by the wordplay and the variety of styles. And again, that talent and energy was so strong, they could channel it and light up the block! And on a Monday, to boot!
The crowd was enthusiastic but rarely obnoxiously so, overall it was a fun night.

That’s so good to hear. I felt like an enthusiastic crowd is what I was missing when I saw it in October. I’m going again Sunday evening so I hope the crowd is more into it.
