I do wonder if the Tony deadline and ceremony will be pushed to accommodate.

The good news being that this will lessen the blow to NYC health, and I can at least get that money back. Any idea how long before I should expect to start seeing those refunds?"
My normal experience with refunds is they get processed and clear in my account around 72 hours or less. Given the massive volume involved here, I would not be at all surprised for it to take twice that or more in some cases.
This is unimaginably tragic all around, needless to say. But it took 70 years to get this flop back to a NY revival, they've had Brian Stokes Mitchell and Kate Baldwin signed on for 10 months, and now their entire one-week run will seem to have been effectively canceled only a few days before opening.
Do we think they'll move it to the 2021 season? (I assume Encores will have to automatically offer pro-rated refunds to all their season subscribers for one-third of the entire season subscription this year, which is obviously horrendous for them.)
Why on earth would PHANTOM consider closing over this? It is an NYC staple and clearly recouped a long time ago. Seems to me that all of the long-running shows (and shows that have recouped) would be able to withstand this, right? A statement like "PHANTOM... may well close down for good" reads like cheap click-bait.

This is inaccurate. Per Cuomo's twitter: "We are taking new actions to reduce the density of people across the state. Starting Friday at 5pm, gatherings with 500 people or more will not be permitted in NYS. Additionally, for facilities with an occupancy of 500 or fewer, we are reducing the legal capacity by 50%."
"For Broadway theaters in Manhattan, these rules will go into effect at 5pm TODAY. We have already spoken to the theaters about these new measures and they agreed."

Broadway in Boston sent out a notice this morning that performances would continue but wouldn't be surprised if they updated within the next few days.

I would assume there is no need to call and overload them further right? These refunds should all be automatic?
This is absolutely brutal for the economy. Not just Broadway but everything. Holy hell what a mess. I have no idea how the Disney and other theme parks are staying open so far though.

“ Given the length of the shutdown, some shows might opt to cut their losses and never open; industry officials said they also expected that some running shows — those already experiencing box office weakness — would close rather than try to weather a shutdown and reopen.” From Paulson in The NY Times
Seems that the only way to get a handle on stopping the spread of the virus is to limit exposures that are not absolutely necessary- shopping, getting medicines, etc. If all citizens limit exposure- the economic disruption will ultimately be lessened. We all must be good citizens and do our part to limit exposure for the next month or so.
