I can’t even begin to process this horrible loss for one of our finest actresses. At the stage door there was no one sweeter than Ruthie. All my prayers for her.
Absolutely devistated to hear this news. Ruthie is such a wonderful and sweet woman, and to lose two children and her injured in this way is absolutely horrible. She is such a sweet and kind person, and was wonderful with her fans who met with her after shows. I wish her and her family condolences and a speedy recovery.
Wow, I had seen this story earlier but didn't see all the details. Had no idea it was her. I hope her and her family can get through this somehow.
It's a joke that this woman who did this was driving in the first place. I hate the subway so I drive almost every where I go around here and it's amazing how many people are out there driving that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a car.
This is so horrifying to all involved. Ms. Miles was always brilliant on stage, and I have heard she is a such a sweet person. I am just in shock. Both families of those poor children will be in thoughts. Sweet Jesus.

Looks like the driver has claimed she has a "medical condition." If being a sociopath qualifies as having a medical condition, then yeah....

Such an immeasurable tragedy; praying for her recovery, though I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose a child at the same time (or ever)."
I am really hoping that her baby is alive and healthy- something good has to come out of this horror unscathed. From her social media posts, I think she is due around April or May. Please survive Ruthie, both you and your child.
I haven't posted on this Forum since before the holidays, but I can't keep from saying this...
Qolbinau- you seem like a generally decent person and your appreciation of the old Broadway dames is something we have in common- but really? On a topic like this, you still felt a need to use your militant atheism to question why people are "sending prayers?"
You couldn't hold your tongue just this once? Regardless of your own thoughts, people are allowed to take comfort/believe in a Higher Power. And, particularly at a time like this, they respond to grief in their own way. With all due respect, save comments like that for another time.
RIP Abigail- damn, you never think something like this will happen to someone you know.

You said what I was thinking, but much more nicely than I was going to.
In addition to the GoFundMe linked earlier in this thread, anyone wondering what they can do could reach out to the Mayor's Office (and, of course, the Mayor is already pushing Vision Zero so this wouldn't fall on deaf ears), the City Councilman for Park Slope, Brad Lander, or even your own City Council member (Park Slope isn't the only neighborhood that has unsafe drivers, after all).
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I feel so terrible for both families who lost children yesterday. I can't imagine what they all must be going through right now. Does anyone know if there's a GoFundMe for the other family, or if the funds being collected for Ruthie will go in part to the other family?

Wishing her a speedy recovery both physically and spiritually. Can’t imagine what she’s going through.

This is so tragic; I have no words. I hope she will recover and the baby will be ok. Sending love and prayers to her and her family so that they can get through this tough time.
Absolutely heartbreaking. I hope she pulls through.

Yeah, I was questioning that. This isn't her first offense and had sped through school zones before. Something seems a little off to me. Plus, wouldn't someone not be in the best shape after having a seizure? This whole thing just pissed me off and it doesn't even directly affect me. Hoping for a good recovery for both families and for justice so this woman cannot do this to another person.

The rate that the Go Fund Me is accruing donations is truly inspiring. A reminder that there is still so much good in this world. Kristen Anderson-Lopez donated 10K. Lin Manuel, Audra, Corey Cott and more also made generous donations.
