I don't know DeBose, but it seems like her nerves are making her lean into this quirky-I-do-funny-voices schtick that just isn't appealing. Again, maybe that's just her personality, but I'm not really connecting with it either.
She's trying too hard, methinks.

People can discuss whatever they want here, as long as it has to with the Tonys. So, nope, but feel free to take your own advice.

It doesn’t really seem like that’s the case. The main orchestra sections are pretty full and there is a lot of empty space in the mezz & balcony. Some of the balcony sections seemed more than half empty. If it was restrictions by section, the orchestra seating would be a lot more spread out.
The empty seats in the orchestra look more like they didn’t bother paying for seat fillers, and the empty seats in the mezz & balcony look like they made the tickets too expensive.

To be fairly blunt, DeBose is a terrible host. Working WAY too hard and not connecting with the viewers. She’s also been saddled with terrible material.

Don't miss it. It's an exquisite musical.
While in my head I feel like the tribute for Sondheim should have been so much bigger I really loved the simplicity of it.

I enjoy her and think she is likeable, but I agree that her material has not been great.

Love Bernadette, but the Sondheim tribute was underwhelming.
I was hoping Mandy would come out and sing “Lesson #8”, but that was lovely.
Debose is rocking it - her NRG and likeability +++ keep the show moving...

It’s strange how different of a broadcast we’re seeing. I think DeBose is doing quite well despite being green as a hostess. None of the numbers so far have been thrilling. I think Company showcased its fabulous cast, set, and direction which makes sense given the awards won so far.
Now I’m a little sad by the Sondheim number. I would have expected more of a send off in terms of acknowledging more of his works. They didn’t even name the account that’s been publishing his letters for those who might wish to follow.

What is the account?
Renee sure is a beautiful woman.
Fun fact: Renee, Philippa, and Lin are all lefties.
The support in the room for Michael R. Jackson just now was pretty extraordinary –– enough to re-convince me that it will win Best Musical. (Yes I know not everyone in that room is a voter...but plenty of voters are in the room.)

As is Patrick Vaccariello, tonight's conductor for the Tonys (also doing double duty as the MD for MUSIC MAN). You can always tell when he's conducting because there aren't many leftie conductors in working on Broadway!

Regarding the empty seats. They are charging over 200.00 per ticket more for the same tickets that I bought in 2019. Today I looked and they released a ton of tickets in the balconies, I have no idea why, but the front sections were empty.
Haven't been here in ages, I still hate this horrible update to the boards.
Also haven't seen any shows since covid started and nothing so far has really made me want to go see anything. Girl from the north country is the only one so far that I actually want to see at some point.

Not ASL having ensemble’s mic on during the solo part… even their Tony performance’s sound mixing is messy… what

That would have been helpful of me. It’s @sondheimletters on Instagram.
