This is a much better stage design than the London one...
I think the problem is the book and I'm not a fan of the "rock" songs. They're pretty meh.
The "Only You, Lonely You" is a good song and it sounds great with the orchestra. Jordan Dobson is also a better singer than Ivano Turco.
Overall, I enjoyed it and worth the $30 rush I spent (great seat in the 3rd row mezzanine).
According to Instagram, Julio Rey will be making his principal debut as Prince Sebastian tonight (8pm) and there are still rush tickets available
What have the lotto seats been like? I won for tomorrow.
I haven’t purchased yet. anyone may interested in going, dm me.

Not lottery, but did the rush literally an hour before the show (I got too indecisive...) and was assigned front right mezz ("Section 1" B2, which was an amazing seat IMO! I hear the overhang can cut off your view a bit in the orchestra, but it was the best rush seat i've had in awhile!

When I went last weekend we were front side mezz row C 2 seats off the aisle
I saw it last night, nothing too memorable. Surprised that ALW doesn't have anything better to put on Broadway than this. I usually love his shows.
All performances for this weekend are currently up on TDF.
Also, did Ray Baynard leave the show? He apparently hasn’t been in the show for a few days and has since scrubbed any/all mention of being in the show from his Instagram page.

I saw this today's matinee. I was unexpectedly pleased with the show, based on some of the posts about the show. It is not perfect by any means, but it was a fun time. If this is the worst show you have ever seen, I am jealous. I have sat through many stinkers through the last 20 years. I guess I am easily take in by ALW melodies. I am used to modern books that cater to younger audiences, as this I think is the intent of the musical. I appreciated the preaching was kept to a minimum, at least as far as I could tell, that is present in current musicals.
I think the point of Cinderella being bad is that she is a non-conformist in the community, that is all. The community represents the absurd, campy behavior, while the leads are the non-conformists. Cinderella was rejected by Sebastian at the ball because she tried to conform to ridiculous standards. One of the main messages of the show is it is ok to be a non-conformist. I don't see how Cinderella and Sebastian should have joined in the camp.

Weird. I wonder what the story is there.

Can you or anyone else describe what has changed? The proscenium and sculptural back wall from London looked far better than what little I've seen of the Broadway stage, but I haven't actually seen either production.

This sentence had me literally LOL'ing."
She has copied Victoria Hamilton-Barratt from the London cast recording/production. She sounds identical. What happened to creating your own character in a show??

When you step in to a new production of an existing show are you REALLY “creating” a role/character?
Finally got to see this last night and surprisingly had a great time. Echoing that Carmello and McLean were standouts. We also love Julio Rey as Prince Sebastian. What a knockout performance from him. I was very impressed and hope to see more of him on the boards.

I saw this tonight, and you'll have to count me in with the people that liked the show. Is it absolutely great theater? Nope. But it was a fun night out -- and was just plain enjoyable.
A quick rundown: I'd vote Linedy Genao as Cinderella as just OK, Julio Rey as Prince Sebastian as very good, Carolee Carmello as the stepmother as OK but a bit too much, and Grace McLean as the queen as good. I liked the tunes, and thought that the lyrics worked well with the show (even when they were very deliberately rhymed). I thought the set was very good, despite a bit of overuse of certain set elements.
Mostly, I think what carried the show was... the show. The basic conceit was fun, the ensemble was very good (especially The Hunks), the writing was entertaining, and somehow the whole ended up being greater than the sum of its parts.
Based on the negative posts regarding the show, I was thinking of skipping it, and I am very glad that I did not do so.
Savy Jackson will make her principal debut as Cinderella on Wednesday, March 15.

Does Richard Rodgers get credit for writing the melody of the title song?

There’s musical homage in nearly every Broadway score. Some instances, like this one, are more obvious than others.
I feel like every comment is “it’s not great but i had fun.”

Nah, "not great" is a very kind assessment, but I did NOT have fun. I have lived in New York for a quarter of a century and this is the WORST Broadway musical I have ever seen (and I saw things like Glory Days, Soul Doctor, Scandalous....and PARADISE SQUARE). When it comes to expanding on this, I don't even know where to start. Design performances, writing....but DIRECTION! LAZY, AWFUL and at time HEINOUS! Is this the new standard for Broadway?

I mean in the last 30 years *four* of his major West End shows out of 7 (I guess 5 out of 8 if we count his Wizard of Oz) haven't come to Broadway, even some that were modest hits in London (like Whistle Down the Wind which so help me I liked in London)

Well according to some members of this board, you probably didn't "try" hard enough to enjoy it.
Seriously people, sometimes a show is just bad and it's okay to say that.
Two questions:
1. Do we know why Ray Baynard left the show?
2. Is Jordan Dobson just on leave and do we know when he'll be returning to the show? I don't remember the last time a lead was out of a preview process like this (outside of COVID/illness)

It has all the traces of someone from Britain having another tantrum
