People were saying the transfer was D.O.A. because we didn't get an announcement at the final City Center performance, but, when the possibility of huge profits is there, producers will move heaven and earth, and this is a case in point. As has been said before, Sara Bareilles was the key, and, if she was on board from the beginning, it was always going to happen, one way or another.

It doesn’t need a new set but it definitely needs new costumes.
Also if anyone from the production reads this - the orchestra on the stage means the actors will be pushed to the front of the stage again and the sight lines at that theater are GARBAGE due to the raking of seats. Please make sure actors are completely visible from every seat if you’re keeping this staging. This is exactly why I was praying it wouldn’t go into the St. James.

People were saying it was DOA because a bunch of anonymous commenters said it was happening on a message board (myself included). Rumors don’t hold a lot of water around here. It didn’t matter that the news came directly from sources involved in the transfer. Not to mention that it did almost fall apart a couple times since the initial word broke.

Where would you recommend sitting then if we are willing to shill out for any price point?

Avoid the boxes at all costs.

I’m wondering the same thing myself. Are they going to withdraw due to the production’s strictly limited run like Sunday in the Park with George back in 2017?

I’m guessing that decision will be based on what the pre-sale numbers look like. The St James has a significantly higher capacity than the Hudson, so if tickets don’t rocket their way into the stratosphere then the producers may be more willing to give up those 1600 or so comps.

Does anything happen high up on the stage in this production? Would the mezzanine overhang be a problem if I sit far back in the orchestra?

This is pure speculation on my part, but for Tony voters a limited engagement ending in August might be more accessible than an engagement ending in April. This show will be ending around the time some of the big Fall shows are suiting up. Also, the Tonys losing a chance to have Sara Barielles on the show would be missing a bet big time.

Shouldn’t question Tony eligibility for this one as the Sunday In The Park situation was a combination of both a smaller house AND the fact that Jake didn’t want to be eligible for his bway debut because he has lost every major award he’s been nominated for in film. The ego…
As has been said, this is a much larger house, so the economics are much different and the Tony voters can only vote in categories in which they’ve seen all nominees. Every show never gets in all voters because many live abroad/out of state and can’t/don’t see everything.

As noted by @AEA AGMA SM above - the Sunday situation was decided by the production, not by the Tonys. Yes Spring is a crowded time for the voters, but I’m sure they would have happily made time for Sunday. And I’m sure they would have loved to have Gyllenhaal performing on the broadcast as much as Bareilles.
IIRC, the production decided since they were closing before the Tonys, and couldn’t benefit from any wins, it wasn’t worth it for them to spare the voter/nominator comps – since they were selling so well, but also on a tight recoupment schedule.
Anyone have any clue what the price range for this will be?

Well, that was easier than I thought it would be. Got a ticket to the closing performance.

Are they not releasing front row seats for the time being??
Sprung for center orch seats, because its one of the few shows I am going to be able to see this summer, but the prices aren't bad.
The real crime is the $45 service fee on TWO TICKETS! The prices seem to be the normal range of $399 premiums, $229 orchestra, $199 front mezz.
Just got my tix! Row L Center Rear Orchestra! Anything closer was way out of my price range!

Agreed! I wanted to be closer, but Row L was the best I could afford in the center orchestra. This whole run will be sold out by the end of the day for sure!

Does anyone know why the front row seats are all greyed out? Are they releasing those seats at a later date? Thanks!!
