I remember people rooting for an Elizabeth Stanley nomination the last revival. I think Claybourne Elder is fantastic in this incarnation.

There are posters here saying that Six will win nothing. I saw Six… do you really believe none of the elements are Tony-worthy? I guess it might fare better in the Drama Desks because A Strange Loop won’t compete with it there. Do you not even think the lighting design will be competitive for a win?

Not much love for Jackman or The Music Man- well. we shall see.

Interesting! I think he's great in the role but didn't leave thinking it was award worthy. But good for him.
I enjoyed Elder, but I’d put my money on Doyle.

If Kimberly Akimbo finds a theater this season (and it is a possibility), then rest assure it will have nominations for:
Best Musical
Best Book
Best Original Score
Best Actress
Best Supporting Actress & Actor
Best Director
Best Orchestration and others...
Time will tell...
I'm less concerned about Kimberly Akimbo finding a theatre, and more concerned about them finding the commercial capital needed to transfer.

I've heard whispers (totally second and thirdhand and unsubstantiated, so ymmv) that Kimberly Akimbo may head to Circle in the Square. If that ends up being true, that would likely put them next season since American Buffalo is there at the tail end of the Tony eligibility season. I think CitS would be perfect for Kimberly Akimbo, so I'm okay with it waiting a season to get that spot.
I think the costume design from Six will at least be nominated, but I could also see it winning. As others have said, they do a good job of presenting a unified design while still being unique for each character. On top of that, they give almost all of the visual interest due to the bare stage set.
But even more than that, the designer very cleverly incorporated period details that reflect various portraits of the queens into distinctly modern looks. The modern looks are also informed by the pop stars each characters song style was fashioned after. I know costumes are generally designed by character brief, and that nothing is randomly added as a costume piece, but there are so many levels to what these costumes are doing as part of the show!

Samantha Williams isn't in TiM. She is in Caroline, or Change.
After seeing both TROUBLE IN MIND and COMPANY today, speaking only from a performance standpoint:
- TROUBLE IN MIND - Definitely LaChanze for Leading Actress. She has the WHOLE range AND gets to show off that singing voice we all love. Personally, I would toss Chuck Cooper in Featured Actor because his monologue in Act II that’s practically an aria was breathtaking.
- COMPANY - Patti LuPone has Featured Actress as a win in her bag, barring any major surprises in the next few months, with the same being said for Matt Doyle. I could see where Elder could sneak in featured Actor as well, but I think the momentum really belongs to Doyle here. Sadly, thought I enjoyed Katrina Lenk’s performance, it seemed a bit too detached at times.
Also, am I stupid or does Bobby really drink THAT much (in the original)? My psych nurse brain kept going off thinking, “Okay, they’re drinking so much that they’re hallucinating and not stopping, thinking that the epiphany they need wi be at the bottom of that Maker’s Mark bottle.”

I've seen Six 3x since the Chicago run and I love the upgraded Broadway costumes. But I don't think they are a lock for this category. I think Mrs. Doubtfire has a really good shot at the costume category as well, especially with Miranda's fashion show.
I'm still working my way through the show list but I do agree that Patti is a lock for Featured Actress. I hope Matt Doyle is nominated too.
When I saw Raul in COMPANY, I thought: Next Stop AA. Someone I would never trust to take my kids to the zoo, they would still be there and Raul would be in the bar at the Plaza.
Damn my thoughts on this are that Diedre O’Connell and Emily Davis gave two of the best performances I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe one of them would likely walk away without a Tony Award this season.
I would bet quite a bit of money that "A Strange Loop" will be winning in most if not all major categories they are nominated in. Best Musical, Best Actor, Best Original Score, And Best Book are already locks in my mind.

Of those, the only one I could see them MAYBE facing competition for is Best Actor. It'll definitely be heavily favored for the others.
As far as SIX (not responding to you, just the thread in general), I think SIX's issue is that "quality over quantity" only goes so far. I really liked SIX. I thought every Queen gave a great performance. The songs were awesome and the scenes were hilarious. BUT, there just isn't enough there for any of its elements to break through and win any awards. I think the one exception to that COULD be costumes. The costumes in SIX definitely stand out.
A Strange Loop is gonna shock everyone predicting a Six sweep. Just saying.
Edit: Just to clarify, I love Six. I've loved it ever since summer 2019. I think it's a wonderfully fun time. I just don't think it's gonna be a big winner at the Tony Awards...whenever they might be.

THIS, solely judging by video footage of SIX (haven’t seen it live yet). I was especially underwhelmed by the book and lighting design elements. IMO, the opening sequence and “Haus of Holbein” needed to have stronger lighting - I was expecting all-out Great Comet strobes for the latter, a nightmare for those suffering from epilepsy. The lighting does get better as the show goes on, but I ultimately thought Natasha Katz set a better tone for Diana, what with its frantic flashbulbs blinking throughout. I’ve been to several concerts with more intense lighting than SIX.
The book, meanwhile, is mostly just bitchy banter and put-downs, and the competition framing device just doesn’t cut it for me. Advantage, Strange Loop.

THANK YOU!!! Why people think this rises to the quality of winning a Tony Award is beyond me, and I’ve had to argue this point with people who are staunch defenders. And it’s not even good banter - I’ve seen bitchier put-downs on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Six also won't need the awards to run. It has its audience.

I'm really rooting for a nomination for Katrina Lenk in Company (honestly will actually be devastated if it doesn't happen as she's giving one of the best performances I have ever seen), but with such a stacked field and such divisive reviews, I just don't know.

Joaquina Kulakango's performance is Paradise Square is probably going to win. I'd place it above Sharon D. Clarke's performance and likely any other performance this season, including Victoria Clark, who I've all seen. It is absolutely stunning and a star making performance. When you leave this show you talk about this unbelievable performance. This performance and the choreography are the two awards it has on lock.

I don’t see much about MJ on this thread. I know it just started previews last month, but it’s been getting rave reviews on social media so far. I just saw it this weekend and thought it was absolutely spectacular. Definitely think it will be a high contender for Tony noms this season, especially Myles Frost.
I feel like "A Strange Loop" has to win Best Book or Best Score. I feel like it might be a case of Billy Elliot vs Next to Normal. I feel like if the Tony's don't acknowledge A Strange Loop, they might go the way of the Golden Globes.
