That 2010 year was odd -- because Sean Hayes was hosting, PROMISES/PROMISES was one of the most prominently-featured shows on the telecast, and it wasn't even nominated for Revival.

Just throwing this out there, but I know previous Tony Awards would occasionally include scenes from the nominated plays in addition to songs from Musicals. With the acknowledgement that there are only 3 Revivals this year, what do you all think are the chances that we might get scenes from some or all of the nominated plays in this year's ceremony, especially since it seems many feel that this year was a stronger season for new/revived plays than musicals?

I believe "Mean Girls" will do Where Do You Belong? and Meet the Plastics, as they transition into each other and feature Grey Henson, Taylor Louderman, and Ashley Park. Barrett Weed also posted on Instagram that she will be in the Tony performance, and she's also in those numbers.
I want them to do World Burn, solely because some people still don't understand why Taylor Louderman was nominated, and that song in particular shows off oh so much of her ferocity and command of the stage. But Meet the Plastics shows off some of her comedic chops in the show, so no number would be bad for her.

Mean Girls will do Where Do You Belong most likely, as it contains few spoilers (although everyone knows the plot of Mean Girls, but still). It's the exposition song, which is good for this kind of performance. World Burn would be great, but it's honestly best within the context of the show. Out of nowhere, I feel like it wouldn't have that same effect. Also, it's one of the best moments of the show and while it might be good marketing to do that, you don't want to give away that moment. However, Cinders, I love the Louderman spirit! She's fabulous.

I want to see Caissie Levy do "Monster" from Frozen. I think they'll want to feature a new song written for the musical, especially since they got a nomination for original score, and that one has certainly been the most popular. Although they'll probably do a medley or a song that features more of the cast. I definitely don't think they'll do Let It Go.
Since I live in Denver I haven't seen any of the other nominations for best musical, so I'm hoping to see some performances from those shows.

How about Put On Your Sunday Clothes from Hello, Dolly! Or the title number?
The show is about to close, so there should be no issues performing this wonderful number now. Viewers and loyal Broadway fans deserve what we didn't get last year. Make.It.Happen.

After seeing The Band's Visit performance on the today show, I don't think Answer Me works in telecasts and outside of context. And also I hope they don't do it because the entire show leads up to that emotional climax and I feel like it would take something away from someone seeing it for the first time. My vote would be for Katrina singing Omar Sharif with a stand mic and a fog machine.

Frozen will likely do "Monster" now being that NEITHER girl got nominated and they don't have to try and play up one or the other. So they will go with an Elsa song to target kids watching at home. See Elsa, want to go see Elsa, beg mom and dad to see Elsa, buy tickets to see Elsa. But they will not want to do "Let It Go" as it's not unique to the show. So... "Monster" it is.
Both The Band's Visit and Once On This Island have used the songs I thought were in contention for their performance this week on Today so now I really hope that neither of them recycle again. Especially Island as we have now seen "Mama" twice on TV now. They would BOTH be wise to pick something else.
Band's Visit really depends on what kind of mood they want to sell to the masses. If they want to appeal to folks that 'Hey we are a quirky, funny show' they will do "Welcome to Nowhere" or if they want to appeal to the folks that 'Hey, we are a really poetic show' they will do.... "Itgara'a" into "Something Different." You thought I was going to say "Omar Sharif" didn't you? While it's a great song, I don't think it's a good sell for the show on its own to outsiders. "Something Different" however features both its lead players and is a bit more sellable to someone being introduced to the show for the first time.
Once on This Island is hard to pin point now that only Kilgore got a nomination as they might have to pick between featuring her in a big way or featuring the ensemble over her as her big number sidelines the ensemble and the only big ensemble number with her in it has been done to death now. I expect a medley or mash up for sure but what will be in it is questionable.
Once we see what number Mean Girls performs on Today later this week, I think we will get a better idea of what might be to come on the Tonys.

I totally agree that Answer Me didn't play as well on the Today Show. (I love the song and loved the show, but that turntable stage is so key!) I'm really hoping they do Welcome to Nowhere - there's so much wit in the show and it really shows that off. Maybe a medley of that and Omar Sharif. Itgara'a/Something Different is beautiful in the show, but I think would be a really terrible choice out of context when people don't know these characters. Even in the show, as gorgeous as it is, I felt slightly fidgety. It's not really an attention-grabber... I love it much more in hindsight on the album.
I'm hoping that OOTI has exhausted their Mama Will Provide performing and will do something different on the Tonys! I'd love to see We Dance, though they'll probably want to play up Hailey... though I don't think they'd do a full Waiting for Life. Really interested to see what they ultimately pick. (One Small Girl would be my dream as it's my favorite from that score, but I know it's a long shot... even though it pairs flawlessly with Waiting for Life.)
The more I think about it, I think SpongeBob should do I'm Not a Loser. Maybe they can do a quick intro with Ethan so people get a sense of his character (like Shrek did), but I think that flashy spectacle would absolutely kill on the Tonys!
I really think Frozen should stick with one of the well-known songs. Give the people what they want. My gut says they'll do For The First Time in Forever, but who knows. Maybe they'll just go all in and do Let It Go (if they can technically do the dress trick on the Radio City stage).
I'm torn on Carousel... though now that Renée Fleming is nominated, I'm formally leaning towards June Is Busting Out All Over, especially since it's June. (June June June) Rooting for Blow High Blow Low, though. I know a lot of fans of the show thought it was weird and out of place, but that's the one number from the show that I'd really love to see again.

I've only seen 2 thus far, but for The Band's Visit I want WELCOME TO NOWHERE. Answer Me is gorgeous but without the emotional buildup it may come across as slow and boring. Welcome to Nowhere has that Middle Eastern flair, it establishes the show, and it's charming as hell. For Spongebob, I assume they'll do Bikini Bottom Day but I would love it if they did HERO IS MY MIDDLE NAME. It's just a great and catchy song.

SpongeBob could do Simple Sponge segueing into I’m Not A Loser to feature the 2 acting nominees. .

I agree, I'd like for Spongebob to give us something other than Bikini Bottom Day because that's really all we've been getting from them, we don't need to see it again. Not sure what song I'd want them to perform as a replacement though.

Do we think we’ll get a 20th anniversary lion king performance? Also it seems like the last time phantom performed was for their 25th anniversary so maybe they’ll wait to perform again in 5 more years.

I have it on very good authority that Band's Visit will be represented solely by "Omar Sharif."
Which I think is probably the best possible choice for a show like this, reminiscent of Fun Home being represented with just "Ring of Keys."
(for what it's worth, I think unabridged numbers are almost always a better choice than a medley).

For Mean Girls, I hope Taylor does her “My Name Is Regina George” and then it goes into Revenge Party. It’s one of the strongest songs in the show and features the nominees fairly well.
