I want to take my younger brother to see DEH - he listens to the soundtrack all the time and that'll be his first broadway show.
I know the prices are insane - but what's my best option for cheap(er) tickets? we live in nyc so we don't have to plan ahead, however because he has school it'll have to be a weekend show.
I don't mind standing in line if necessary, however my brother is autistic so he can't stand there with me (aka it can't be last-minute tickets...)
any suggestions? we don't need great seats, just affordable ones...
Stub Hub very often has last-minute tickets that are significantly discounted. Starting this weekend, carefully watch the Stub Hub prices for tickets for weekend shows and watch how they come down as show time approaches. (Typically they either sell out entirely or they start dropping pretty dramatically.) If you live in NYC, you could grab last-minute tickets, print them at home and still make it to the show. My advice would be to try this method a few weeks in a row. If that doesn't work, you can always stand in the cancellation line starting the morning of the show you want to see. You can buy two tickets per person in line (so your brother doesn't need to stand with you). Although I'm not sure what the cancellation line price is there days... I don't think it's discounted. Maybe others can provide guidance on that.
You can also try the digital lottery for $42 tickets.
$42, cash or credit card accepted. Enter at www.dearevanhansenlottery.com on the day of the performance, up to 10 AM for matinees and 2 PM for evenings. Lottery includes seats and standing room locations. 2 tickets per person.
If you're unable to stand, you should begin saving money to pay for a full price seat to guarantee you and your brother a seat. Dear Evan Hansen tickets range from $119 to $499, but stub-hub is a great option too
don't message me thinking im taylor trensch?? what would he be doing on bww?? you can't possibly be that dumb bye
Define affordable. Also, just wait until the next group of tickets are sold and make sure to get tix for you and your brother then. This show has been here for over a year and the OBC will be gone soon but the replacement cast is fine too. From what I recall, cheapest tix in rear side mezz is $109? Or is it $129 now?
As others have said, the digital lottery is another option too. Good luck!
I was at the box office last week to find out when the next block of tickets was going up. Out of curiosity, I asked about the box seats and was told they occasionally have box seats available at the last minute.
Box seats may be a great option for you and your brother. They are the cheapest seats in the house (the hive here will correct me if I'm wrong - but I believe they are $89). I'm not sure where on the spectrum your brother falls, but I've found box seats to be perfect when bringing young people to the theater as it allows a certain amount of privacy you don't get when in a crowded row (unless your on the aisle).
