Anyone else think the Weisslers may eventually go after Hunter Parrish as a replacement Pippin? He looks good with his shirt off and he already has a working relationship with Stephen Schwartz so it seems like an obvious choice.
I'd like to see Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Pippin.
I'd rather not listen to him struggle his way through the score. I respect Parrish's love of theater, but he wasn't vocally pleasing in either SPRING AWAKENING or GODSPELL.
Godspell wasn't that tough a score and he was, to be charitable, struggling with that.
EDIT: AC126748 has faster fingers than me.
It wouldn't surprise me if they went for Parrish, but allow me to echo the last post...
They could also go after Nick Jonas for the part...which may actually work. But please, don't have me thread steal.
Ugh.
I suggested him on the Pippin Leading Player replacement thread in June or July. Good to know that someone else sees him in the role.
This thread just made me want to see Groff as Pippin....
^ I could GLADLY live with watching a shirtless Jonathan Groff onstage
I could go for Groff. The Weisslers might like him better since he'll bring in the glee fans.
I know he's not the world's greatest singer, but is Daniel Radcliffe too old for this?
^He's younger than the actor currently playing the role, so I'd say no.
I think I saw Andy Mientus standing next to Tovah when I saw the show in July. I knew she was taking notes, not sure if he was just watching the show.
I agree with addy. Ugh.
Groff has a pretty full slate. Two movies coming out and he just signed on for a Queer As Folk type show for HBO.
Radcliffe always makes me happy. I think he'd be a great Pippin.
I would actually be interested in seeing Parrish in the role. And if they brought in Groff I'd be back in a heartbeat. I'm quite curious to see who they cast as a replacement if/when that is necessary, as there are a lot of young actors who could do great/interesting stuff with the role, especially in this production (and this is coming from someone who loved Matthew James Thomas in the show).
His "Alas For You" in GODSPELL was one of the most embarrassingly bad things I've ever seen or heard occur onstage in my life. It was seriously that painful. So...no, I don't think he should play this part. He's a perfectly fine stage actor, but singer...not so much.
Since it's the Weisslers producing, every star, semi star, and not even close to a star will eventually fill the roles in this show. They probably have an offer out already to Wendy Williams to play Pippin!

"Alas For You" was deliberately softened for the Broadway GODSPELL. It was thought that an angry Jesus couldn't turn on a dime and sing "Beautiful City" which was being tooled to be the hit song in the revival.
I don't know whether I agree with this, I'm just passing on information I learned.
I don't know whether I agree with this
Why don't you know?
He's preoccupied beating off thinking about Hunter Parrish.
Me. Sorry, but he's not my type. I like 'em "emo."
The thought of Wendy Williams as Berthe just popped into my head.
I don't really consider myself a "fan" of Hunter Parrish. I didn't even know who he was until I saw Godspell. Even so, I have to say I was pretty impressed with his performance. I actually thought he sang it quite well. Having said that, I don't think Pippin is right for him. It's a much more difficult score than Godspell if you ask me, and I don't see him as the wimpy, young, coming-of-age boy.
