for those of you who saw POTO moive...well the goings on backstage are much like that, minus the drinking and the midget!

Lots of people hurrying around to get around one another and mostly to get out. And...forget about going onto the stage, unless you are getting a tour, it doesn't happen. Besides, it's just a stage. Go to any large community theater, the view's the same.

How do you guys know ppls address on broadway? Or do you just write to the theater itself? I would love to go backstage. Or write a letter to Norbert Leo Butz - becasue we're both from Alabama!! Just thought I'd ask...

rent boy~ I can apprecaite that those who come in to NYC from out of town to see their favorite show or actor like to make this a special event. I have assisted a few people to make it happen, when I'm in a position to do so.

My advice is to write the star c/o the theater. Be sure you get the right address and ZIP CODE (there's a lot of codes in NYC).
You can 1. send it regular mail 2. send it registered (to be sure it's received).

Depending on what you are hopeful for, be polite and don't assume it's going to happen. And always allow about a month if you are expecting an reply. Some stars are very dilligent about fan mail, others are not. It's not a reflection on the actor either. Fan mail means diferent things to different people. Don't take it too personal if you don't get a reply.

I want to go backstage somewhere. I just think it would be a cool experience.

The only time I went backstage was at Wicked. The flute player in the pit used to go to my school, and our choir director asked her during intermission if she would give tours. She agreed and after the show she took our group through everything. We saw Cheno in her dressing room and Rosie walked into her dressing room with her daughters as we passed. We also saw all the wigs and costumes. It was a great experience to see how it all happens.

I've been backstage at several shows, but one time in particular that I remember would be when I went to Miss Saigon.

It was after the Sunday matinee, I think, and my friend and our moms were waiting and waiting for the girl who played Kim (whose name slips my mind now) and we waited forever, and the weather was really bad, and after a long time, there were like, 3 or 4 other people still waiting with us and the stage manager or the door guard invited us in and then when "Kim" came out she apologized profusely and said she was just chatting with her vocal coach and then she signed our playbills and showed us around the stage. It was cool!
