MW:I’m going to swerve a little, and talk about other work, because I just learned today that you are doing Greg Berlanti’s film adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors, which is one of my all-time favorite musicals. Is it happening, has it happened?
PORTER: Well… that’s no longer happening.
MW: [Gasps.] What happened?
PORTER: It’s been postponed. I don’t know. I just got a call one day that said it was postponed. It may come back, it may not. But that’s off right now.
Honestly, this was one of the upcoming movie musical adaptations in pre-production that I wasn't looking forward to. Wrong director, some miscasting involved, ultimately this postponement is for the best.

"Frank. This is supposed to be... Stupid."
Those are the words that Howard Ashman told Frank Oz as they were developing the original 1986 film. That stupidity is what makes the movie work. It shouldn't, but it does.
I kinda wish Billy Porter would drop into the off-Broadway production for a brief stint then. With POSE ending, he could surely drop in for a brief stint

Man, I have to say I'm very relieved this film is dead in the water. The film adaptation that exists is nearly perfect (and even more-so when you watch the Director's cut/original ending) and the casting rumors inspired zero confidence in me that the filmmakers understand the property beyond a superficial level.
